Gallery 1: 8. Barbed Wire Fence (March 2007 in Toronto)
12x18 inches. Canon Rebel XT with Canon 35 mm lens; 1/500 second;
f/13; ISO 200.
I photographed this barbed wire fence behind a Wal-Mart store in Scarborough
that had closed to relocate to an even bigger building. I love the organic
lines of the plastic scraps blowing in the wind, but I find the image
depressing. It makes me think of the way that routine and convention can
crush individual creativity. (Perhaps I am just having a flashback to high
school.)
