Gallery 1: 9. Sidewalk Scene on Yonge Street
(February 2007 in Toronto)
8x10 inches. Canon Rebel XT with Canon 35 mm lens; 1/6 second; f/5.6; ISO 200.
I took this photograph on Yonge Street in downtown Toronto one evening near
Atrium on Bay and across the street from Sam the Record Man. I used a long
exposure and moved the camera slightly to blur the details. The picture
works for me because the people are arranged at different distances from the
camera: the two women in the foreground, the two children in the middle, and
the man stepping out of the background. I also think there's a nice balance
of colours in the image as a whole. This photograph was taken at the same
night as Gallery 1: 16. Cab on Yonge
Street.
